Cafe makes welcome 
return

THE NEW Year is getting off to a good start at Montrose YM with the reopening this Thursday of its popular Community Café.

The cafe, which will run every Thursday, will offer coffees, home-baking and lunches and will be open from 10.30am until 2pm. The emphasis is on good wholesome cooking at reasonable prices served in a friendly atmosphere.

The weekly programme of activities has also resumed and this includes: Monday - Junior Youth Club 3.30 to 6 p.m. for pupils in P6, P7 and S1, cost £1; ‘Open’ provision (games, computers, darts, pool etc), 6.30 to 9 p.m. for young people in S1 upwards, no cost; Knitting Group 7 to 9 p.m. for adults, cost £1; Tuesday - 16+ provision, 1.30 3 p.m. for young people (unemployed, not in education or training), staffed by Skills Development Scotland and Community Learning and Development offering assistance and advice with job searches and training; Junior Youth Club 3.30 to 6 p.m., details as for Monday.

Wednesday- Junior Youth Club 3.30 to 6 p.m., details as for Monday; Music group - 6.30 to 9.30 p.m. for young people aged 12 and upwards, cost £1.20; Thursday - Junior Youth Club 3.30 to 6 p.m., details as for Monday; Beginners’ Music Group 6.30 to 9 p.m., cost £1.20; Friday Junior Youth Club - 3.30 to 6 p.m., details as for Monday; Friday Night Project 6.30 to 9.30 p.m., for young people in S1 upwards offering open provision (Games, computers, darts, pool etc) and special events such as a Challenge Evening with local emergency services on February 1. A number of live music events has also planned been planned for February and March.

Additionally, YM supports the project at Borrowfield Community Centre on Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m. when activities include footballs and outdoor and indoor activities.

New members are welcome at all of the above groups and further information is available by contacting the YM staff on 01674 673966. The YM are also available for hire on Saturday mornings for coffee mornings and meetings. The recently refurbished café area is on the ground floor and seats at least 50 people at any time with space for a small number of stalls. There is a well- equipped kitchen and toilets adjacent to the seating area.
