Academy FP makes ‘Big Noise’

Montrose-born businesswoman Jan Morris, owner and director of mailmarketing, celebrated 21 years in business by making a ‘Big Noise’ for Sense Scotland and walking away with the ‘Business/Charity Partnership’ award at the recent Association of Scottish Businesswomen Awards.

Originally from Montrose, Jan (nee Geddie) left the Academy in 1973 to study Food Science at Robert Gordon’s Institute of Technology before going on to teaching. She purchased mailmarketing, based in Glasgow, in 1990. It is an industry-recognised leader in providing marketing-led business solutions across the board to the financial, retail, business to business and charity sectors.

Staff members from mailmarketing were involved in and organising a host of events in support of ‘The Big Noise’ – including race nights, cake bakes, sponsored walks, bungee jumps and even walking the Great Wall of China and running the New York Marathon. The charity partnership was rounded off with The Big Noise Charity Ball in Glasgow, which enabled the business to celebrate its 21st birthday in style, bringing together business people from around the UK, friends and family, helping to boost their fund-raising total to Sense Scotland to well over £13,000.

Jan said: “The 12-month Charity Partnership began in January 2011, when we launched ‘The Big Noise’. Having run the business for 21 years it was time to put something back into the community, and I set myself a personal challenge - the New York marathon in November 2011.”
