GSK’s £10,000 boost for Links Park Trust

MAJOR Montrose employer GlaxoSmithKline has supported local charity Links Park Community Trust with a donation of £10,000.

LPCT trustee Roy Gill said: “At Links Park Community Trust we rely upon income from sponsorship, donations and fund-raising events to assist us in developing and delivering such programmes.

We are a charitable organisation, and all sponsors and donors can rest assured that every penny will be put to good use, with any surplus funds being reinvested into the development of new initiatives.

“We are extremely grateful to GSK for supporting our cause.”

And the Trust’s general manager Peter Davidson said: “Our flagship sports initiative is our Links Park Football Academy concept which, through our Little Dribblers, Fun Fours and Soccer Sevens programmes, offers a fun introduction to the wonderful world of football.

“Fifty per cent of the donation received from GSK will go toward developing these programmes further.”

GSK Montrose site director Andy Ross said: “At GSK, we have a challenging and inspiring mission to improve the quality of human life by enabling people to do more, feel better and live longer.

“We are delighted to support Links Park Community Trust, who share our vision and will aim to deliver upon such on a local level via their unique range of sport, health and educational programmes.”

GSK’s donation has also led to Links Park Community Trust being awarded £5,000 from SPORTSMATCH, an award scheme that supports grass roots sport projects that encourage participation at community level.

The scheme, which is funded by the Scottish Government and administered by sportscotland aims to match commercial business sponsorship on a pound-for-pound basis.
