Meeting to explain welfare reforms

ANGUS employers are being urged to attend an information event this month to find out how welfare reform plans will affect them.

The free event, which will take place on Wednesday, February 27, in the Carnoustie Golf Hotel, has been organised by Angus Council as a member of the Angus Employability Partnership.

Established to bring together organisations across the public, private and voluntary sector, the group aims to get people into work, keep people in work and develop the skills of those in work.

The meeting will focus on the introduction of the new Universal Credit which will merge out-of-work benefits and in-work support, resulting in changes to the PAYE system.

This will mean many changes for employers, and the event aims to provide information and support on how businesses can manage these.

Speaking at the event will be Charles Goodall, chair of the Angus Employability Partnership.

He said: “There are several changes in legislation being introduced in 2013 that the business community need to be aware of, especially if they are employing full or part-time staff.

“Angus Employability Partnership feels it is imperative that we do everything we can to ensure that businesses in this area are aware of these changes.

“I look forward to welcoming members of the business community to this important event on February 27.”

The meeting will start at 5.30pm and will include a range of speakers and information stalls. Business representatives will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the changes.

Anyone interested in attending, having a stall, or would like further information can contact Shelley Hague on 01307 473198 or e-mail hagues@angus.gov.uk.
