Montrose in line for a ‘pizza’ the action!

THE EAST Scotland franchise of Domino Pizza is exploring the possibility of opening in Montrose.

The owner of Edinburgh-based Dominoid Ltd., Sean Geddes, told the Review that he is testing the market in a number of towns which do not already have the Domino Pizza brand.

He explained: “Three years ago I built a 14-metre trailer to sell the product at motor sport events or musical festivals.

“But it makes sense to use it at other times, too.”

The Review learned about the pizza company’s interest in the town at Thursday’s meeting of Montrose Community Council where Mr Jim Taylor broke the news.

An application has been submitted to Angus Council for a street trader’s licence in the Lidl car park on July 10, and Mr Geddes said that the opening times would be from noon until 10pm.

He said that some companies used computer modelling before deciding where to open an outlet - he prefers to turn up and gauge customers’ reaction.

Despite its size, Montrose has not yet attracted any of the major fast-food chains, and if Domino go ahead they will have the market to themselves.

But although Domino is well-known for delivering its pizzas to your door, before you ask, no, Mr Geddes is not thinking of using his 14-metre trailer to do this!
