More than £4,000 raised from bungee jump
STAFF from Scotmid’s Montrose store helped to raise more than £4,700 by bungee jumping from the 120-feet high River Garry Bridge, near Killiecrankie, in November.
A team of 17 staff from the north east completed the sponsored jump in aid of Maggie’s Centres, Scotmid Co-operative’s charity of the year.
Store Managers Claire Johnston, Fraser Rolley and Malcolm Whyte visited Maggie’s Dundee last week to present their cheque and celebrate their fund-raising achievement.
The bungee jump is the latest in a number of high adrenalin challenges undertaken by Scotmid employees to raise funds for Maggie’s Centres, which have included a parachute jump, an abseil and fitness challenges. In the North east area, more than £20,000 has been raised for the charity as part of the wider one-year partnership, which aims to raise £150,000.
The Montrose staff were joined by colleagues from Dundee, Aberdeen, Coupar Angus and Brechin.
