Rescheduled Baroque concert

ONCE again the young players of Montrose Academy’s Baroque Ensemble (elite String Orchestra) are to stage a charity concert, this time to raise funds in aid of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

The concert, which fell victim to the weather when it was first scheduled, will take place on Thursday, February 3, in Old & St Andrew’s Church, Montrose, starting at 7pm (please note the slightly earlier starting time).

Among the music you will hear on the night is Corelli’s ‘Concerto in G major’, the ‘Adagio’ from Albinoni’s ‘Oboe Concerto’ and Tessarini’s ‘Concerto in E minor’.

On a more modern note the performance will conclude with the popular ‘Capriol Suite’ by Peter Warlock.

Refreshments will be available at the end of the performance. Entry is by donation on the night.

Organisers say that as the concert should only last roughly an hour they hope you will find time to support this worthy cause, supporting less fortunate children.
