Snapshot of education in Angus

A SNAPSHOT of education in Angus was revealed at a meeting of the Education Committee last week.

The education department’s annual report for 2011-12 outlines the performance of all aspects of the department’s work. Among the highlights were: By the end of S6, the proportion of pupils attaining three or more awards at Higher level increased to an average of 33 per cent; In 2011, 89 per cent of Angus school leavers entered a positive destination; 100 per cent of S1-4 pupils received at least two hours of PE per week. All P1 pupils were taught in classes of 25 or less, while the downward trend in the number of working days lost through sickness absence for teaching staff continued.
