LOCAL daredevils are being asked to come forward to zip slide across a national stadium to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

The event will take place at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, the home of Scottish rugby, on Easter Sunday.

Cystic fibrosis (CF), which currently affects around 9,000 people in Scotland, is one of the UK’s most common life-threatening inherited diseases for which there is presently no cure. Founded in 1964, the trust is the only national charity dedicated to all aspects of cystic fibrosis (CF). It funds research to treat and cure CF and aims to ensure appropriate clinical care and support for people with cystic fibrosis.

The zip slide will take place from the upper level of the south stand where participants will be securely harnessed to a steel wire, before zipping off for an exhilarating 200 metre ride through the world-famous rugby posts and high above the pitch before landing safely by the north/west stand tunnel.

The day will also include special Easter Sunday activities to entertain both participants and spectators along with members of the Glasgow Warriors rugby team and the Easter bunny.

Money raised by the zip slide will help to fund research into treating and curing CF. It will also help to provide support, advice and appropriate clinical care to over 9,300 babies, children and young adults living with Cystic Fibrosis in the UK.

Anyone who would like to take part in the event can find out more online at http://www.cftrust.org.uk/help/events/mzip, by contacting the charity’s events team on 0300 373 1100 or e-mailing events@cftrust.org.uk. Full training will be given on the day so no experience is necessary. The minimum weight for participants is six stone (38kg) and maximum weight is 17.5st (111kg).
