Harris FP 1 Merpro 2

MERPRO travelled through to Dundee on Saturday and completed a double over Harris in the league this season.

Harris are notoriously hard to beat on their own sloping pitch and a fluctuating freezing fog allied with a muddy surface made match conditions even more difficult.

Merpro took the lead in 14 minutes when a Findlay throw in was headed back acros
s goal by Whitworth and fell for Steven Donaldson to hook the ball back across the goal and into the corner of the net from 10 yards.

Merpro began to dominate and Christie created a couple of opportunities for himself before he lost his footing on the slippery surface in the box just as he looked likely to hit the target.

Merpro went further ahead in 22 minutes when Milne fired in a diagonal cross which fell for Steven Donaldson who emphatically drilled a low shot into the net from 15 yards.

Harris then had a spell of dominance but were not able to create any clear cut chances.

Milne set up a defence splitting diagonal pass for Brown but his 12 yard goalbound effort was blocked and cleared in 40 minutes.

Christie's free kick beat the defensive wall but was excellently saved on the line by the keeper and it was the last kick of the first half.

Merpro started the second half well enjoying some good possession but were shocked after 52 minutes.

Harris made a good break from midfield leaving an attacker free to fire a shot past the advancing Henderson . Houston did well to get back to cover the goalbound shot but could only knock the ball into the net in his attempt to clear from one yard.

Harris were now galvanished and Merpro did well to withstand a spell of intense pressure.

Merpro had a good spell of their own and the keeper saved from Christie after 72 minutes.

Harris were always dangerous and after a goalmouth melee a 16 yard shot was fired through a ruck of players only for Henderson to see the ball late and stick out a foot to prevent a certain equaliser in 78 minutes.

Merpro managed to withstand some late pressure to remain resolute and grab the full points.

Merpro are away to SSPP in the league on Saturday, kick-off 1.30 pm.

Merpro: Henderson, Findlay, Houston, Milne, Smith, G.Allan, Brown, Whitworth, Christie, Wilson (Doyle), Donaldson.
