Merpro hit goal trail

MERPRO recorded a resounding confidence boosting win against mid table Harris with a display of some fine finishing to run out worthy winners.

Merpro started well and went ahead after 10 minutes when Allan was bundled over on the edge of the box. Craig Christie duly curled a Beckham style free kick into the top corner of the net from 22 yards to make it 1-0.

Stephen was next to threate
n with a surging run into the box but was bundled off the ball and a penalty was awarded. Sean Whitworth stepped up to blast the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0 after 14 minutes.

Stephen then forced a good finger tip save from the keeper with a 15 yard shot.

Colin Wilson made a good save from a breakaway Harris run and shot in 20 minutes .

Christie then had a good run and shot well saved in 24 minutes.

Stephen created two chances but was thwarted on both occasions by the keeper.

Merpro went further ahead when a quick thinking long ball from Milne allowed Craig Christie to run behind the defence and flick over the advancing keeper in 32 minutes.

Colin Wilson then made another good save after a defensive slip allowed an attacker to run through from midfield.

A Harrison sent in a 35 yard free kick with Donaldson almost getting a touch at the back post.

Findlay ambled forward and fired a shot past the post from 25 yards in 40 minutes.

Christie almost completed a first half hat trick with another carbon copy style free kick but on this occasion the ball cannoned off the bar hit the keeper and went over the bar for a corner kick.

Merpro started the second half slowly and almost lost a goal when a header crashed off the bar in 47 minutes.

Harris were encouraged and claimed a goal back when a long throw in failed to be cleared in 53 minutes.

However Merpro picked up their game again and began to create more chances and dominate in midfield.

Merpro went further ahead with Sean Whitworth firing home a low 16 yard shot past the keeper following some good inter linking play with Scott Wilson in 60 minutes.

Harris were then caught on the break when an attack was broken up on the edge of the Merpro box by Allan. His pass allowed Steven Donaldson to run from his own half and calmly drill a low curling shot in at the near post.

Whitworth was then sent off in 70 minutes after a second bookable offence for persistent fouling to leave Merpro with 10 men.

Christie then had an excellent chance to complete his hat trick when put through on the keeper but pulled his shot wide in 74 minutes.

However he was not to be denied as after some good setting up play from Stephen allowed him to finish off a move to seal his hat trick in 80 minutes.

Merpro continued to look for more goals and made it 7-1 when Stewart Doyle showed some fox in the box predator skills to drill home a 12 yard shot after receiving a Donaldson pass in 84 minutes.

Harrison cleared off the line in the closing stages to prevent a consolation goal for Harris.

This was an emphatic victory eased by some early clinical finishing and a good overall performance.
