Forfar Albion 1 Roselea 4

ROSELEA continued their challenge for the league title when they made the trip to take on Forfar Albion on Wednesday.

For the third consecutive game the management team chose the same starting eleven with only Mustard replacing Maiden on the bench.

On a good surface Roselea started brightly and Kerrigan did well to set up Rae but keeper Archibald blocked his at
tempt.

Watson was then set up by Kennedy but his effort took a deflection and went straight to the keeper.

In six minutes Kerrigan did well to cut inside but saw his shot take a deflection off Watson and go behind.

Longmuir was next to try his luck after Watson was brought down just outside the penalty area, but his shot curled wide of the target.

In 16 minutes the away side had their closest attempt so far as Kerrigan sent in a cross which Watson met on the half volley only to see the ball bounce off the post into the keeper's arms.

The young home side were competing well and making Roselea work hard for their openings but eventually the deadlock was broken in 34 minutes. David Craig passed to Rae and from his driven cross Kennedy took one touch and drove the ball home.

Roselea produced another good move with Kerrigan, Longmuir and Watson setting up Rae but his shot was off target.

After a stern talking at the interval Roselea quickly extended their lead in 49 minutes. Rae swung in a free kick, Kerrigan saw his header parried by Archibald and Graham pounced to make it 2-0.

Kerrigan had another chance minutes later from a Watson cutback but was unable to find the target from close range.

Roselea were stunned shortly after when the home side made it 2-1. Reynolds drove down the right and cut the ball to McIntosh who saw his shot deflect off Miller and send McLeod the wrong way.

In 62 minutes the home side were reduced to 10 men when full back Barrie was shown a second yellow card for a rash tackle from behind.

Another great chance for Roselea saw Watson go through on a head flick from Kerrigan only to see a good tackle from Lindsay stop the striker.

It was 3-1 in 68 minutes when Anderson played the ball back to Whyte and from his dangerous cross Kerrigan rose and headed home from six yards.

Roselea then made their first change with Doug Craig going on to replace Kerrigan and this meant Longmuir moving up front.

This move almost paid off immediately as Anderson sent Longmuir through and from his driven cross Watson just failed to connect on the back post.

Another great chance went unfinished as this time Doug Craig was unable to finish in front of goal.

In 82 minutes Roselea made it 4-1. David Craig sent Longmuir wide on the left and the utility man cut inside before crossing for Watson to score from close range.

The away side made further changes before the end with Christie and Riach replacing Miller and Watson.

The club now have three games left to play and stand six points clear of nearest challengers Broughty Athletic.
