MONTROSE manager Steven Tweed looks like missing out on making a nostalgic playing return to Easter Road, where he played for eight years.

The Montrose gaffer has torn a calf muscle and will miss Saturday's league trip to Berwick and speaking this week he ruefully said he has "no chance" of making the Scottish Cup tie with his former club Hibs seven days later.

"There are other players who will play against Hibs and they will do a good job."

Tweed knows it will be tough when his men travel to the Borders this weekend.

"Berwick are coming off a great win at Elgin and they will be bouyed by that, but we can take heart from how we played against East Stirling.

"There is a fine line between success and failure and that was emphasised on Saturday.

"We will go to Berwick with confidence. We had three games in a week last week, but this Saturday we will be fresher.

"Berwick is an important game for us and we cannot afford to look ahead to the Hibs game.

"We don't have enough bodies to be able to chop and change our team."

One player departed Links Park this week when Sean Anderson signed for juniors Lochee United.

"Sean is a utility player who played in a lot of positions for us, but never really made any position his own.

"I will now be working to bring someone in in his place."

Speaking immediately after the 1-0 defeat at the hands of East Stirling, Tweed said: "There was not a lot between the sides.

"They are the ones going for promotion, but you couldn't have told that from the game.

"We created a couple of chances and my keeper didn't have a save to make.

"At their goal, the referee over-ruled his linesman and gave them a throw-in. We then lost a corner through not speaking to each other.

"When the corner came in, a boy pushed Paul Tosh and the ball ended up in the back of the net.

"I do not know if tiredness crept in through having three games in a week.

"It did not look like top v bottom, but I know it is the result that counts."
