Proving the success of Montrose Academy Enrichment Programme, junior Bridge players Damien Murray, Scott Lorimer, Murray McKay, Liam Trzaska, Jake Milne and Iain Graham were recently invited to compete in the trials for the Scottish Bridge Union junior team.

In a highly competitive field, Jake Milne and Iain Graham were top qualifiers and have made the team.

Their first challenge will be to represent Scotland against the rest of the United Kingdom and Eire, for the prestigious Under-25 Junior Camrose trophy.

Scotland are the current holders and are fielding an all-new team for the event in Manchester, on February 16 and 17.

The trialists who did not qualify on this occasion acquitted themselves well and will be invited to take part in trials for future events.

Mark Evans, president of the Montrose Bridge Club said: “This is a real testament to their talents and enthusiasm - we are all very proud of them.

“It is a significant achievement even to be asked to trial, and to represent your country in a home nation’s tournament, is fantastic.”
