VOLUNTARY Arts Week is offering local arts and crafts groups to celebrate their activities while encouraging others to join them.
Throughout Scotland there are drama groups, orchestras, choirs, knitting circles, dance troupes, painting groups and more meeting up every week to enjoy themselves, help others learn and bring their local communities together.
Voluntary Arts Scotland (VAS) supports these groups and their endeavours. They are hosting the inaugural Voluntary Arts Week, between Friday, May 6, and Saturday, May 14, to showcase their activities to the rest of the country.
VAS is asking groups in Montrose to support the week in a number of ways, such as holding a taster session to see if others might like to join them; running an open rehearsal so people can see how a show or concert is put together; putting on a special exhibition of their members’ work; taking their art/craft form out into the street, local shopping centre or bus station, or anything else that celebrates their work.
