Something palatable

A group of students who have just finished their second year at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art are joining together for a joint exhibition which opens in Dundee this Friday evening.

Their exhibition - entitled “Something Palatable” - follows a similar exhibition held last year in Montrose by Sharon Mottram, Siobhan Morison and Amanda Lambert.

The idea was to show people their progress through university and to familarise themselves with the business.

Something Palatable will run each year as they go through Duncan of Jordanstone and, they hope, when they follow their own separate artistic routes.

For their second exhibition Sharon and Siobhan are joined by Kerry Nairn, Sarah Rychtarova and Thomas Cameron.

Their work ranges from acrylics on canvas to pastels and water colour on paper, as the indivual artists explore a variety of subject matter from water and boats to photographs of charity work in Tanzania.

There are oil paintings in a cinematic style inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky the Russian Director as well as painting techniques inspired by The Glasgow Boys andcontemporary artists such as George Shaw.

The exhibition opens this Friday evening at Roseangle Cafe Arts, 130 Perth Road, Dundee.

It runs for the whole month of August.
