Time to swap snowshoes for gardening boots

‘Spring is Sprung’

At LAST the weather seems to be turning a bit milder, to the relief of gardeners everywhere.

At Montrose Horticultural Society, early preparations for the annual Flower Show in August are well under way.

The prize schedule for the 2013 show has been ready for some time.

Copies have been sent to everyone who has been an exhibitor over the past two years and they are also available in Montrose Library, Rossie Braes Garden Centre, Crafty Cat and The Wool Shop.

If you should have received a schedule, but haven’t, please phone Kay Lees on 01674675117 to have one posted out.

A spokesman said: “The 2013 schedule contains some new classes, which we hope will encourage some new exhibitors.

“We are particularly keen to see more entries in the Children’s Section. Schedules have been sent to all the schools and private nurseries in Montrose.

“We would also like to encourage more Floral Art entries.

“Montrose has a flourishing - no pun intended! - Floral Art club, so come on ladies and gents, give it a try.

“Following the success of our Kitchen Garden Section last year, we are hopeful of increased entries in this area.”

The Society sends thanks to McCains Potatoes, Crafty Cat, Turriffs, Frost the Baker and Grampian Growers for their generous sponsorship, as well as all the local traders who advertise in the schedule, and patrons and members who give donations.

Their financial assistance is invaluable.
