A MONTROSE man has raised over £3,800 for charity after completing an 81 mile cycle race.

Roddy West took part in the Etape Caledonia Cycle Race last Sunday, with the £3,883 raised going to the DebRA charity.

The 130km challenge saw him ride from Pitlochry to Tummel and around Loch Rannoch before ascending to 1,949 metres up Schiehallion, taking in some of the most spectacular scenery the Highlands has to offer.

The DebRA charity works on behalf of people in the UK who suffer from a genetic skin blistering condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).

Adana Forsyth (10) from Montrose was born with a most severe form of EB which causes her skin and internal linings to blister, bleed and peel at the slightest touch.

DebRA continues to raise funds in the hope that some form of treatment will soon be found.

Roddy is pictured with his dad, Councillor Sandy West, handing over the cheque to Adana and her dad Peter Forsyth outside the Montrose DEBRA charity shop in Montrose.
