Montrose and District Macmillan Cancer Support Committee members and staff from the Links Hotel, are pictured with a cheque for £6,666 which was raised at a charity Speaker's Dinner at the hotel in March.

Themed as "Crime and Punishment" guests were entertained at a fun evening hosted by MC David Birse with speakers Sandy Jessop and Robbie Glen.

An auction and raffle helped boost the figure to £6,666 raised on the evening.

In the twelve months preceding that event, the committee had been very busy with other activities in support of Macmillan including a bottle stall at the Highland Games, the World's Biggest Coffee Morning and the annual Flag Day.

The year was rounded off with another successful Christmas Shopping Evening.

The committee have been pleased to note that the collection cans placed in local shops and bars, have shown a tremendous increase in the money raised – over £1,400. For this fundraising year monies received totalled £4,785.

The success of the fundraising reflects the tremendous support given to the charity by the people of Montrose and surrounding villages.
