MONTROSE resident Alisdair Cook has decided to embark on an 18-month journey, fund-raising for the charity Support In Mind Scotland.

The charity has been exceptionally helpful in providing assistance for a family member, and Alisdair decided that he should do something in return.

So this ambitious sponsorship venture is the result.

It will start in January, with Alisdair proposing to run five miles on each of the 31 days on a treadmill.

In February he is planning a road walk round the perimeter of Aberdeen, from the bach to the beach, and including Anderson Drive - a total of 13.5 miles on a hilly, hard-surfaced route.

March ... well, Alisdair wants to check with the Guinness Book of Records on the status of March’s challenge, so no details are being released until this is done.

Another venture will be the Braemar half-marathon.

And Alisdair will be hoping that next July’s weather will be better than the one just past - he works in Aberdeen and he is planning to cycle to and from work each day - avoiding dual carriageways.

He told us that the Picture House Pub, for which he plays football, is also interested in setting up sponsorship events.

More details can be found at www.tint12.co.uk and he can be contacted by telephone at 07870 227479 or e-mail alisdair@tint12.co.uk
