The club was formed in March 1983 and the inaugural meeting was held on the Wednesday, March 2 in the Park Hotel which has remained the venue since. The club meets on the second Wednesday each month and a welcome is extended to musicians, whether experienced or novices, to come along and have a tune.

Evenings are open to non-members to go along and enjoy a night of Scottish music played by locals on the accordion, fiddle, drums, keyboard, trumpet, mouthorgan and pipes. A special guest band is invited to entertain every month, usually well known broadcasting bands and or individual musicians of note. Tea or stovies are available at the interval and a raffle with a varied range of prizes keeps everyone interested.
