A total of 163 people signed up to Links Park Community Trust’s 50-day 5km challenge this year and raised nearly £20,000 for the trust and other good causes.

Participants are asked to run, walk and/or cycle a minimum of 5km (3.1 miles) every day for 50 days, while attempting to raise a minimum of £50 in the process.

The money raised is split 50/50 between Links Park Community Trust (LPCT), based in Montrose, and another cause of each participant’s choosing. Charities, clubs and schools have benefitted from the initiative, which, over the four years since it started, has raised in excess of £60,000.

Peter Davidson, project manager at LPCT, said: “At LPCT, we rely entirely on income from donations, sponsorships and funds accrued from our programmes, and as a registered charity, donors can rest assured that every penny is put to very good use in the development and delivery of our community-benefitting programmes.

“We are grateful to all that took part, everyone who supported their efforts, and of course, we take great pride in issuing cheques totalling £10k to a range of very worthy causes.”
