TICKETS for The Proclaimers' gig in Montrose this summer sold out in minutes as fans queued for hours to guarantee their attendance.
With half the allocation of tickets going in just 11 minutes via the internet, hundreds of music lovers gathered outside the Black Abbot Lounge for the local sale on Saturday.
Tickets didn't go on sale until 10am, but the most eager fans had b
een lining up from 6am to make sure they didn't miss out.
By 10.24am, all the tickets for the gig - arranged by Montrose Music Festival and Regular Music - had gone.
Festival chair, Lynda Paton, was delighted at the response.
She said: "We are over the moon with the response and delighted that the people of Montrose continue to show us this fantastic level of support.
"We were amazed to find people had been waiting in line for as long as four hours to get their hands on the tickets and I suppose that just demonstrates how popular The Proclaimers are.
"Unfortunately, there were some disappointed faces at the end of the day as not everyone could get tickets."
The committee said they appreciated that they could have sold the same amount of tickets again, but the Proclaimers were only available for one date.
The Proclaimers will visit Montrose Town Hall on June 4, just after the festival's main weekend, in a special gig arranged by Montrose Music Festival and Regular Music.
Twins Craig and Charlie Reid are responsible for hits such as Letter From America, I'm On My Way and Sunshine on Leith; not forgetting one of Scotland's unofficial national anthems, I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles).
News that The Proclaimers were to play at Montrose Music Festival came just after the band confirmed they were to play on the main stage at this year's T in the Park.
The full festival weekend takes place from May 28-30, with details to be announced in the coming weeks.
