A MINI recycling centre could be set up at the side of the Stagecoach bus depot on Rossie Island Road.
Ferryden community council began discussions on the possibility of setting up a centre somewhere in the village at their April meeting.
Since then, community councillor Gordon Brown has met with two Stagecoach employees to seek their thoughts a
nd permission for placing a mini recycling centre at the depot.
At the June meeting of the community council, Mr Brown said that Stagecoach were more than happy to have the recycling centre at the depot and said they had no issues with the proposal.
The suggested location is in front of the office on the south side of the building, where there are currently visitor parking spaces.
Ferryden Community Council have tried to get a mini recycling centre in the village twice before but on both occasions they were unable to find a suitable location.
Community council chair, Graeme Newton said they went round the whole village but it was the same story – sites had too much of a slope, or people did not want them on their door step.
Now Stagecoach have given their permission for the proposal, Councillor Sandy West volunteered to speak to Angus Council and see what the next step will be.
Mr West said the council had recently held a brainstorming session on waste awareness. He said: "The council is under pressure from the Scottish Government to get recycling figures up. The less that's recycled, the more that's thrown in a hole in the ground. We had four tables that looked at different aspects and everyone agreed, it needs to be more accessible.
"I think you'd be knocking on an open door. I think it is commendable you have made the effort and identified a site."
