DEIRDRE Adamson was the special guest for the January meeting of the Montrose Accordion and Fiddle Club in the Park Hotel.
Compere Jim Hood welcomed the company and introduced the first of the local players, Arthur Wood on button box accompanied by resident keyboard player Ron Stewart and drummer Gerry Boxwell, who soon had the toes tapping with a lively set.
Ally Rennie on mouth organ followed with a sing-along selection, closely followed by Cora Nicol on accordion.
Deirdre Adamson was next on stage and put on a very entertaining programme, immaculately played and presented.
After the break for the raffle and refreshments, the second half started off with a selection from Bill Mackie on button box. Gerry Boxwell changed his drums for a melodeon and entertained with a few selections. Last of the local players was Ron Ramsay on e-pipes before Deirdre returned to the stage and played another first class selection of music greatly appreciated by the company
The guest for the February meeting, which is also the annual general meeting, is the ever-popular Johnny Duncan Duo.
At the AGM, a decision will be made whether to retain the Sunday meetings or revert back to the first Wednesday of the month.
The March meeting marks the start of the club’s 30th anniversary year and the Steven Carcary Band will be the special guests.
