Angry parents of children who attend a primary school in Montrose are urging drivers to stop parking illegally outside the school.
The issue of cars parking on zig-zag lines was brought up at a parent and teacher’s meeting at St Margaret’s School, Blackfriars Street, last week.
One parent, who does not want to be named, said: “It has been getting worse over the last three to four months. Some cars are parked there overnight. There’s a big yellow sign that clearly states no stopping between 8 a.m. and 4.30 p.m.
“One teacher suggested we send a letter out to parents reminding them not park on the zig-zag lines. They’re there for the safety of the children, but we don’t know if it is parents or residents parking on them.”
A spokesperson for Tayside Police said: “When parking to drop off or pick up at school, always give careful consideration to where you park - preferably make it a distance away from the school. Try to let children in and out of the car via the door closest to the path.
“Do not park on the zig-zag lines outside the school entrance and be careful not to block driveways or other driver’s views of the road, particularly when parking near to junctions.
