A group of Angus Girlguides, including six girls from Montrose, which is travelling to Japan this summer, raised an impressive £3,160 in only one weekend of fund-raising.

They achieved this by doing a number of events, including a race night and a bag pack.

Liz Forbes, of Girlguiding Angus, said: “The group wishes to acknowledge that this fantastic result wouldn’t have been possible without the support of families, friends and the generous contributions from the local business communities in Angus.

“Particular thanks need to go to PMR Jewellery of Montrose who contributed a beautiful handmade nine carat gold necklace for the auction; Stirfresh of Montrose for donating veg; and to D H Robertson Butchers of Arbroath who rounded things off by donating the remaining ingredients, as well as making the stovies for the race night.”
