NHS Tayside is warning patients in Angus not to give out any personal information to cold callers who claim to be calling on behalf of the health board.
Gail Smith, Interim Lead Officer for NHS Tayside (Angus) said: “We’ve had several reports from patients that they have received telephone calls from people claiming to be calling from Brechin Health Centre.
“The caller asks if the patient has arthritis or claims to know that they have arthritis, and tries to make an appointment to sell recliner chairs, massagers and other items to help with their health.
“NHS Tayside will never call you and try to sell you something and will never pass your contact and medical details on to a third party.
“If you receive a call that you are unsure about, you should never accept any visits or give out any personal information and just hang up.
“You should report the call to Police Scotland on the non-emergency number 101, or call Angus Council’s Accessline on 03452 777778 or Angus Council’s trading standards team on 01241 435600.”
