IN RECENT weeks the Review has carried numerous reports about problems faced by Hillside Scouts, whose hut is in a state of decay.
Unless the Scouts can obtain the security of a 25-year lease, grant-giving bodies are unable to hand over cash.
On our Facebook page Ian Spence, a Scout there 25 years ago, suggests: “Either put the hut at the bottom or in school grounds, or ask companies for help in return for naming the hut after them.”
The principal problem remains security of tenancy on the land, but Mr Spence’s suggestion is attractive.
