TRISH Douglas, a member of the Inner Wheel Club of Montrose for the past 21 years, has taken up a three-year appointment with The Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in Great Britain and Ireland.
On July 1 she assumed the post of chairwoman of its overseas service committee.
There are 810 clubs in the Association and a membership of over 20,000, while membership worldwide over 101 countries stands at 100,000.
Mrs Douglas has served as Montrose Club President twice and also as its district’s chairwoman. Her involvement with overseas service started in her club and has progressed through district to association levels.
She has always had a keen interest in this field and many of the overseas charities supported by the Inner Wheel organisation both nationally and internationally including Sightsavers and WaterAid.
Mrs Douglas hopes to visit Africa in the course of her duties with association and to gain first-hand knowledge of problems there.
