Jim Strachan (foreground with kilt), represented Montrose RNLI at the London Marathon last Sunday, co-ordinating the cheering team at Tower Bridge Lifeboat Station.

He was delighted to see so many runners raising funds for the RNLI. Jim had read an internet plea for volunteers to help, and is delighted he did so.

He said: “It was fantastic, with a great atmosphere, as you can imagine with 700,000 people cheering on the runners!” Many taking part wore black ribbons in memory of those who died or were injured in the Boston Marathon.
