The Balhousie Lisden care home in Kirriemuir is opening the doors to the public and inviting them to join them as part of the inaugural National Care Home Open Day 2013.
National Care Home Open Day takes place on Friday, when Balhousie homes will host barbecues, fancy dress parties, craft fairs and various fun parties for local people.
Across the country thousands of care homes will be putting on a show, with a variety of events, activities and entertainment designed to create stronger links between care home residents and their local communities.
Balhousie homes in Aberdeenshire, Perthshire, Dundee, Coupar Angus, Arbroath, Carnoustie, Blairgowrie, Fife, Bonnybridge and Kirriemuir will all take part in the celebrations and are inviting members of the public to join them.
Tony Banks, chairman of Balhousie Care Group, said: “By inviting the public into our homes to meet staff and the people we care for it is hoped we can strengthen existing links and establish lasting and meaningful connections between the public and our homes.
“We are delighted to be part of the first ever National Care Home Open Day and are absolutely sure it will be a huge success.”
