Be named in local author’s book! Sponsor Carmen and find out how

LOCALLY-born author, Carmen Reid, is showing her support for leading charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer by taking on the challenge of their Perthshire Trek 2011.

Carmen, who is also a former Montrose Review reporter, is the author of the well-known and much-loved Personal Shopper book series and the Secrets at St Jude’s teen series.

She will undertake a 16-mile trek exploring Perthshire’s stunning Cateran Trail, to raise vital funds to save lives of people with breast cancer.

Carmen is calling on her readers to support this pioneering charity by joining her on the Trek, which takes place on September 10.

As well as taking part, Carmen is also helping to raise funds for Breakthrough by running an exclusive competition for the chance to win the fantastic prize of being named in her next book.

Every person who makes a donation to Carmen’s JustGiving sponsorship page is in with a chance of winning.

Carmen said: “Breakthrough is a wonderful charity dedicated to breast cancer research, education and prevention.

“I’m delighted to offer Breakthrough my whole-hearted support but I’m a totally hopeless runner, so I was very pleased to find out I could walk for them!

“A trek through lovely Perthshire is going to be a fantastic way to raise funds, so sign up, lace on your boots and let’s get training!”

Gemma Gillespie, fund-raiser for Breakthrough added: “We’re really excited about our first ever Perthshire Trek and delighted that Carmen has joined our trekking team!

“We hope as many people as possible will rise to the challenge.

“It’s a great chance to help us save lives whilst having fun and getting fit.

“ Every penny raised will help us make a real difference to families affected by breast cancer throughout Scotland.”

For more details on how to sign up to Breakthrough’s Perthshire Trek, please contact Gemma Gillespie on 0131 240 2852 or e-mail scotlandinfo@breakthrough.org.uk.
