THE GENEROSITY of Montrose bowlers means that two local charities are better off to the tune of £500.

A total of £1,000 raised by members of Montrose Bowling Club was divided equally between the RNLI and Montrose Stroke Club and presented at the club’s recent annual general meeting.

The money was raised over the course of the last year and while members compete annually for an RNLI trophy, with the competition’s proceeds going directly to the charity, the club holds a number of additional fund-raising contests during the bowling season.

Club president Barrie Melvin and vice-president Elma Smith presented their cheques to Victoria Galey and Moira Cameron from the RNLI, and Olive Clark and Isobel Byers from Montrose Stroke Club all of whom thanked the members for their generous donations.
