STAFF at Specsavers in Montrose raised more than £500 for Comic Relief recently with help from customers and members of local band Peyton Place.

Band members Chris and Matthew Tomlinson helped raise cash with an eye-watering in-store leg wax performed by a beautician from The Barber Shop.

Matthew, who works in the store, started the band Peyton with his brothers, Nick and Chris, and two friends, Ross McCrank and Joe Hall, in 2010.

Since forming, the group has performed in Montrose, Aberdeen and Glasgow and released its debut EP, Letters to the Editor, earlier this month.

Store director Catherine Wilson said: “We had a great weekend and are thrilled with the public response. Chris and Matthew were great sports and with their help we raised £523 for the worthy cause.

“I would like to take this opportunity to give a big thank to Madisons, The Barber Shop, Body Work and all the other retailers who generously donated gifts and services to make the fund-raiser such a success.”

Customers on the day were also treated to some home baking and were able to take part in the tombola stall.

Anyone who received a goody bag is reminded to bring their ticket in to the store to find out if they have won £150 to spend on eyecare.
