Consultation launched

LOCAL people are being urged to have their say on the proposed regeneration of the South Montrose area.

A strategic review of the South Montrose area has highlighted regeneration opportunities that have the potential to significantly benefit the county and the wider area.

A public consultation about the draft development masterplan for the area has now been launched and a mini exhibition of the proposals will be held in the George Hotel next month.

Councillor David May, Angus Council’s economic development spokesman, said: “This draft masterplan outlines some exciting opportunities for Montrose and Angus. I would urge local people to view the masterplan and give us their feedback on the proposals.”

The masterplan and further information can be viewed online at and copies of the draft document are also available to view at Montrose Library and Montrose Access Office.

The exhibition, which will be held on Thursday, October 13, between 10am and 8pm will also offer the public the chance to discuss the regeneration scheme with council officers.

Comments can be submitted electronically at south or posted to Montrose Masterplan, Planning & Transport, Angus Council, County Buildings, Market Street, Forfar DD8 3WB. The deadline for responses is Friday, October 28.

The plan has been developed by consultants Ironside Farrar who carried out the strategic review on behalf of Angus Council and its partners GlaxoSmithKline, Montrose Port Authority, Scottish Enterprise, and TACTRAN (Tayside and Central Scotland Transport Partnership).
