A PLANNING app-lication for extensive improvements at the Hillside Hotel was placed on the Angus Council website last Monday.
The application, in the name of The Hillside Hotel, is for “Alterations & Extension to Existing Hotel for Self Catering Accommodation.”
The plans show a new, extended, bar and lounge area on the ground floor of the existing building, with a new kitchen and space for a band. It also shows a large, non-symmetric extension at the back, where the self-catering facilities would be located.
Car-parking spaces would increase from eight to 12, although the vehicle access arrangements are not scheduled for change.
A spokesman for the hotel said the building and its accommodation would be completely refurbished.
There will be a lift for disabled guests and a brand new reception area at the car park side of the building.
There are five proposed self-catering units, and there would be five letting bedrooms in the refurbished hotel. This is fewer than at present but they would be to a higher standard.
The spokesman added that there would be a very significant investment in the business.
The application is in the area of Hillside, Dun & Logie Pert Community Council, which became aware of it at its meeting on Wednesday in the Hillside village hall. No details were available at that point, but members were keen to learn more.
