Montrose dentist celebrates independence with award

A Montrose dentist has been named independent woman of the year at a prestigious business awards ceremony.

Lorraine Arnot has worked as a dentist in the town for 12 years and has owned Montrose Dental Care since 2010, she was declared the ‘Independent Woman of the Year’ at the Women Ahead awards dinner at the Apex Hotel, Dundee, earlier this month.

Lorraine said: “It was a real honour and surprise to win this award. It’s been quite overwhelming really - lots of patients have congratulated me on winning the award and I have even had letters recognising my achievement from Alex King, the Provost of Angus and Graeme Dey MSP for South Angus.”

The Independent Woman of the Year Award is presented to a director, consultant or sole trader of a one-woman business with entrepreneurial spirit who can demonstrate a high level of skill/practice in her chosen business/profession and drive and ambition to determine the success and long term viability of the business. The successful applicant is a woman of exceptional achievement, demonstrating excellent performance in her business or profession, great communication skills and an ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and clients.
