Pot of Gold’s £500 boost

A ‘POT of Gold’ set up by a Montrose business group to help local organisations, has been boosted by £500 after a successful Christmas shopping bus trip.

BNI Nexus, a group of local business people, has spent the past year raising money for its 2012 Nexus Rainbow Award, the ‘Pot of Gold’, which will be divided between various local charities, voluntary organisations and groups in Angus and the Mearns.

The shopping bus trip was organised by Shona Salmond of ‘Not Just 4 Kidz’, George Street, and the funds raised bring the total amount to £2,230.

The committee will meet early in the new year to discuss the 15 applications it has received for a share of the 2012 Nexus Rainbow Award, and the results will be announced in January.

Kirsten Tomlinson, chairwoman of the Rainbow committee, thanked Nexus members and friends for all their fund-raising efforts and said she was delighted to think that their ‘Pot of Gold’ would go towards helping local people in the community.
