Call for action on delivery charges

Angus MP Mike Weir has welcomed the report from Citizens Advice Scotland on the additional charges faced by Scottish businesses based in rural areas due to additional delivery charges imposed by many carriers.

Mr Weir has long campaigned on this issue and previously supported a Private Members Bill to tackle the problem.

The report discovered that more than three quarters of businesses who responded felt the cost of ordering items online had a substantial impact on their business.

Commenting, Mr Weir told the Review: “It has long been a frustration of both businesses and consumers in Angus that they find when ordering goods that there are additional delivery charges, which are not made clear at the outset.”
