Angus Council has announced a date for the by-election for the Carnoustie and District area of Angus.
A by-election is scheduled to be held on Monday, December 5, following the death of Provost Helen Oswald, who was a councillor for the area.
Nominations are now being taken for the election, and a nomination pack and guidance notes can be downloaded from the dedicated Local Government by-election – Ward 5 Carnoustie & District page of Angous Council’s website now.
They can also be obtained from the Election Office, Print Unit, Sylvie Way, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar, DD8 1AY, phone 01307 476060. The office is open for the issue and receipt of nomination papers on weekdays, from 10am to 4pm (excluding bank holidays).
Completed nomination forms must be delivered to the returning officer at this address on any weekday not later than 4pm on Tuesday, November 1.
If more than one valid nomination is received, a by-election be held and voting will take place between 7am and 10pm on Monday, December 5.
For voters who are not registered - applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) at Ravenswood, New Road, Forfar, DD8 2ZA, by Wednesday, November 16.

Any elector may apply for a postal or proxy vote at this by-election. New applications to vote by post and applications to amend or cancel an existing postal or proxy vote must reach the ERO at the above address by 5pm on Thursday, November 17. New applications to vote by proxy must reach the ERO by 5pm on Thursday, November 24.
Applications to vote by proxy at this by-election applied for on grounds of physical incapacity, where that physical incapacity occurred after 5pm on Thursday 24 November, must reach the ERO by 5pm on Monday December 5.
