The dedicated team behind Montrose Music Festival have already brought ska-legends Madness and Northern Irish Indie rockers Ash to the town this year, and now they’re gearing up to bring Brit pop band Cast to the burgh.
MoFest’s 2015 events will be brought to a close when Cast take to the stage at the town hall in October.
Emerging from the Brit pop movement of the mid-1990s, Cast signed to Polydor Records and their debut album ‘All Change’ became the highest selling debut album for the label. Further commercial success continued with the albums ‘Mother Nature Calls’, and ‘Magic Hour’.
Noel Gallagher of Oasis described watching the band live as being like a “religious experience” and they were labelled ‘The Who of the 90’s’.
Festival chairman, David Paton, said: “We’ve had such an incredible year of live music in Montrose thanks to the hard work of MoFest’s Volunteers, LCC Live, local businesses and all the people who help us to put on these colossal events that put our town on the map.”
The evening at the town hall will kick off with Nick Mercer Jnr, former frontman of the band Sergeant, who supported the likes of Oasis and the Fratellis.
Cast will also be supported by The Lottery Winners, a Salford band described as ‘Lancashire hot pop’, who recently supported Madness when they rolled in to Montrose earlier this month for their only Scottish gig, playing to a crowd of 8000.
David said: “The Lottery Winners supported Madness and the comments we have been getting where great so seemed like a great idea to get them back.”
“The songs are the most important thing in the world to me,” said Thomas Rylance, frontman and song writing force of the band, “If they’re ever even a tiny fraction as important to other people, I’ll die a very happy man.”
David concluded: “Closing this year’s events with Cast, The Lottery Winners and Nick Mercer Jnr will be the icing on the cake for us.”
The concert will take place at Montrose Town Hall on Sunday, October 18. Tickets are £19.50 plus booking fees and are now available from the See Tickets website, but they are limited.
