MONTROSE Natural History and Antiquarian Society gets its new season off to a fascinating start on this Tuesday (September 11) when Dr Richard Fawcett of St Andrews University’s School of Art History, will give an illustrated talk entitled ‘New Life for Scottish Castles’.
Dr Fawcett has published widely on many aspects of architectural history. His chief interest has been in mediaeval castles and church buildings and much of his career was spent in the Inspectorate of Ancient Monuments of Historic Scotland, dealing with the conservation, interpretation and presentation of architectural monuments and buildings.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and of the Societies of Antiquaries of London and Scotland. He is to deliver the Rhind Lectures to the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland in 2013 and is currently leading a research project looking at the mediaeval parish churches of Scotland.
The meeting will be held at Montrose Museum on Tuesday at 7.30pm. Doors open at 7pm. All welcome.
