Celebrity endorsement as film takes eighth award

Top US TV host Rosie O’Donnell has called You’ve Been Trumped ‘a must see for all’ just hours after the Scottish film picked up its eighth international film festival award and its first in California.

The Chicago-based star tweeted her reaction to the film, by Montrose-based documentary maker Anthony Baxter, after watching it on Sunday.

The film, which Donald Trump’s organisation has branded “a failure”, tells the story of the tycoon’s golf course resort being constructed at Menie, Aberdeenshire.

Ms O’Donnell is now planning to attend the US theatrical premiere of the film this Friday, January 20, at Chicago’s famous Gene Siskel Film Centre.

The celebrity host tweeted: “Just finished watching YOU’VE BEEN TRUMPED - amazing new documentary - a must see 4 all.” She went on to direct her 341,000 followers to the film’s YouTube trailers.

Shortly after posting the tweet, Ms O’Donnell contacted Mr Baxter to accept an invitation to the Chicago premiere of the film.

Over the weekend You’ve Been Trumped picked up its eighth international film festival award at the Wild & Scenic Film Festival in Nevada City, California where it won the Jury Prize.

The film is currently playing to sell-out audiences at festivals in the United States where the film-makers are seeking distribution for the feature with the support of a worldwide crowd-sourcing campaign on the internet site IndieGoGo – Take You’ve Been Trumped to the World.
