Residents in Angus can make their views known on the future of local government funding at an event led by the body set up to look at alternatives to the Council Tax.

The Commission on Local Tax Reform, established jointly by the Scottish Government and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA), is to hold a public meeting at Webster Memorial Theatre, Arbroath, on August 31.

Residents will have the opportunity to take part in a discussion with the Commission, which sees councillors and MSPs from across Scotland’s political parties, working alongside people from business and civic society to explore and understand a range of alternatives to the present Council Tax.

Councillor Iain Gaul, leader of Angus Council, said: “The Commission coming to Angus is a great opportunity for local residents to help shape the local taxation system of the future. I encourage as many people as possible to sign up and for those who can’t make it, to make their views known via the Commission’s website.” Call 0131 474 9332 or email by August 27 to register.
