The gates are thrown open this evening (Friday) to kick start this year’s charity Beer Festival, hosted by Dundee Round Table.
Hosted at Forthill Sports Club in Broughty Ferry, the Festival takes place over this weekend, June 24-26. Year on year success and improvements to the festival means that this years Festival promises to be one of the best in recent years.
Local businesses always generously sponsor the event, which allows profits taken on the weekend to go straight to charity, which is what Dundee Round Table are all about.
This year the main benefactor will be The ARCHIE Foundation, which is making the difference for local sick children with the Tayside Children’s Hospital Appeal, raising £2 million to support NHS Tayside with the build of a brand new twin paediatric operating theatre suite. Many notable names from around the city have got behind the event, including Blackadders as the pint glass sponsors and McGill as the marquee sponsors.
This evening sees the very first ‘Corporate Night’, where alongside the normal festival activities there is a section dedicated to table service for the main sponsors of the event to thank them for their support. Forthill Sports Club are laying on a family day of activities on the Saturday, including a bouncy castle, treasure hunt, face painter and tennis and table tennis taster sessions. Live music, food, and a large selection of beers, ciders and wine will be available throughout the weekend. On tap the beers will include the likes of Drunken Duck, Tailshaker and the famous Skull Splitter!!
Advance tickets are already on sale online at www.thedundeebeerfestival.co.uk at 20 per cent below prices ‘on the door’.
These will be turned off shortly before the event starts and then there is a pay at the door system. The website also has the full list of beers and ciders, full band listing, and links to the sponsors of the event. Like last year it is hoped that the attendance will again be great and that thousands of pounds can again be raised for charity.
