Charity seeks marathon support

MENINGITIS UK is seeking runners to support its team for next year’s London Marathon, which will take place on Sunday, April 21.

The charity has a number of guaranteed places on its Meningitis Musketeers squad for the 26-mile challenge to highlight the devastating fact that meningitis can kill in under four hours and the importance of its Search 4 A Vaccine campaign.

Full support will be given and all participants will receive a free running vest or T-shirt, and a handy information pack including hints and tips on how to prepare.

Meningitis can strike with incredible speed and the symptoms are notoriously difficult to detect, often being confused with flu and the charity believes preventative measures are the best solution. Its sole focus is to fund the development of vaccines and other methods of preventing the devastating disease. The Search 4 A Vaccine campaign aims to raise £7million to fund lifesaving research into stamping out all forms of meningitis but in the absence of a vaccine, the charity also raises awareness of the common symptoms and the need for prompt action.
