Children’s charity seeks winter stock

The CLOCKS have gone back, the leaves are off the trees so that can mean only one thing - winter is on its way - and Barnardo’s Scotland’s customers in Montrose will be looking for winter woolly bargains in our shops.

Last winter the charity witnessed an unprecedented run on jumpers, coats, scarves and boots due to the unexpected harsh and pre-owned winter that stretched well into 2011. This left the stores extremely low on stock and they are now appealing to locals to help the shops replenish their winter stock.

Jane Pirie, area business manager for the stores said: “We were delighted we could offer our customers winter bargains during the cold spell earlier this year, but it has left us with limited stock for the coming winter months. We are now appealing to locals to donate jumpers, scarves, gloves, jackets and boots so the shops are ready for this winter. We’ll find a good home for any unwanted winter woollies.”

Winter also brings with it the party season and the shops in Angus would also like to receive good quality party wear to help our customer’s money stretch a bit further this year without losing any sparkle and style.

All donations are very much appreciated; all money raised in the stores is used to help disadvantaged children and young people in the local area. To ensure your donations make it into the shop, if possible, please hand them in to the shop during opening hours 10am to 4pm. To find your local shop, go to and click shops.
