Community council nominations

PUBLIC spirited people in the Ferryden area are being reminded that they have until 4pm this Tuesday (December 7) to submit nominations to form a community council.

During the recent community council elections in the county, there were less than half the number of candidates for the vacancies in the Ferryden and Craig Community Council area. This meant that the community council could not be established.

Since then Angus Council has received a request from 22 electors in the Ferryden and Craig area to form a community council.

If there are sufficient candidates to fill the 12 vacancies on the community council, there will be no contest and all candidates will be elected to serve. If there are more candidates than vacancies, a poll will held from Monday, January 10, and the count and declaration of results will take place on Monday, January 17.
