More information on Links Hotel robbery

TAYSIDE Police have renewed the appeal for information about the robbery at the Links Hotel in Montrose in the early hours of Monday morning.

The incident happened at about 4.45am when two men, with their faces covered, got in to the hotel, which is in the town’s Mid Links. They threatened the night porter before stealing money from the hotel safe and leaving. The 26-year-old staff member, although shocked, was unhurt.

The enquiry team released descriptions of the two suspects.

One is about six feet tall and heavily built, with a large belly. At the time he wore a long-sleeved grey jumper. He also wore a balaclava.

The other is slim and wore a snood or scarf to cover his face, as well as a dark-coloured hooded top with horizontal stripes, camouflage trousers and light coloured gloves.

Officers are also keen to trace the whereabouts of a black-coloured racer style bicycle, two Samsung mobile phones and a set of keys. These items were taken from the hotel and are believed to have been discarded in the Montrose area, possibly near to the beach or the golf course.

Anyone who has information that could assist police enquiries should call Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222, or speak to any officer.
